VEGETABLE LEATHER
Developed by the Egyptians in 400 BCE, vegetable tanning is the oldest process of treating leather. Leather is dyed through natural substances like oak bark, spruce bark, tara pods, olive leaves, rhubarb roots, mimosa, or coffee bean shells -- giving its distinct color and characteristics. This type of leather also develops a patina—enhancing its beauty and uniqueness over time.
MAD FOR MARBLE
Marble is a metamorphic rock, formed when limestone is subjected to heat and pressure. Impurities and minerals such as clay, silt, sand, and iron oxide found in limestone are what constitute marble swirls and colors. Trivia: Rust is a reddish-brown pigmented oxide formed by the reaction of iron and oxygen in the presence of water or air moisture, and may be spotted in traces in marble slabs.
